Move over Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana, Prabhas’ Adipurush: Since the inauguration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, the Ramayana has been a hot topic. Director Nitesh Tiwari’s plan to make a film on it, with Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi rumored to star as Lord Ram and Goddess Sita, also got attention. Ramanand Sagar’s TV version is still considered the best. Despite this, Bollywood and South cinema haven’t made a Ramayana film that captivates audiences. Actor Ashutosh Rana, who wrote a book on Lord Ram titled “Ramrajya,” shares his thoughts on the best portrayal of Lord Ram he’s seen.

Ashutosh Rana reveals the best creation on Lord Ram ever made:

Move over Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana, Prabhas’ Adipurush: For many, Ramanand Sagar’s TV series is the best Ramayana depiction. But for Ashutosh Rana, it’s the Ram Leela in his hometown, Gadarwara, MP, that stands out. He shared, “Despite its small size, Gadarwara holds immense cultural significance.” He praised the Ram Leela there, saying, “Even after working with top filmmakers, I haven’t seen its match.” Rana emphasized the authenticity and depth of the Gadarwara Ram Leela, stating it surpasses any other portrayal he’s witnessed.

Move over Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana, Prabhas’ Adipurush: Ashutosh Rana reminisced about participating in Ramleelas in Gadarwara, where actors were assigned roles based on age and talent. He praised the exceptional acting and scriptwriting there, expressing a desire to bring those qualities into his future roles. Currently, in the play “Humare Ram,” he aims to capture the essence of Gadarwara’s Ramleela. Rana emphasized the impact of his hometown’s theatrical tradition on his acting career, highlighting its influence on his portrayal of Lord Ram in contemporary productions.

It’ll be intriguing to see if Nitesh Tiwari can break the trend with his upcoming film, possibly titled Ramayana. The movie’s success in capturing hearts remains to be seen.
