Actor Sahil Khan, famous for his role in ‘Style’ with Sharman Joshi, was arrested this morning in Chattisgarh by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in relation to the Mahadev betting app case. According to PTI, the High Court rejected his pre-arrest bail plea as the offence is punishable.
Earlier in 2023, Sahil Khan was summoned for questioning but failed to appear. He later claimed he was only a brand promoter for M/s. Isports247, promoting the Lion Book brand, and denied any direct involvement with the betting platform.
Why is Sahil Khan arrested?
According to IANS, Sahil Khan, known for his fitness expertise and YouTube channel, reportedly organized celebrity gatherings to promote the betting app, aiming to attract more users. Police apprehended him in Chhattisgarh as he attempted to flee Mumbai following the rejection of his pre-arrest bail.
Previously, actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, and Tamannaah Bhatia were summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Mahadev betting case, reportedly due to their alleged involvement.
