According to reports, “Skyforce” will portray an aerial conflict between India and Pakistan from years ago. Akshay Kumar had previously mentioned that the movie revolves around India’s first deadliest airstrike. Now, an Etimes report reveals that it focuses on India’s attack on Pakistan’s airbase in Sargodha.
The movie is set in 1965 and revolves around Pakistan’s attack on Pathankot, Adampur, and Halwara, countered by the Indian Air Force striking Sargodha. Despite being one of Asia’s most fortified airbases, Sargodha suffered severe damage from the Indian Air Force’s attack. The report mentions that during this operation, a Maha Vir Chakra was awarded to an Air Force Fighter posthumously, marking the bravery displayed during the mission.

Reports detail the use of various aircraft during the attack, including Canberras, Mysteres, and Hunters. Unfortunately, two aircraft were lost, piloted by Flt Lt UB Babul Guha and Sq. Ldr. Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya. Guha’s plane was reportedly shot down by enemy missiles, while Devayya went missing and was presumed dead. Years later, the Pakistan Air Force revealed that their Lockheed Starfighter F-104 was shot down by an IAF Mystere, credited to Group Captain OP Taneja. According to TOI, Veer Pahariya might portray Devayya, while Akshay Kumar will play Group Captain Taneja. The movie also stars Nimrat Kaur and Sara Ali Khan, as per IMDb.
